Altadis Announces H. Upmann Herman’s Batch

Herman’s Batch focuses on the man behind one of the world’s oldest continuously made brands, Hermann Dietrich Upmann. The older of two brothers involved with the Upmann brand, Hermann is said to have arrived in Cuba in 1843, establishing a banking business that primarily catered to tobacco exporters and manufacturers. He then purchased a local cigar factory and began producing cigars in 1844—a date that remains on H. Upmann cigars to this day.

Almost two centuries later, Herman’s Batch is inspired by its namesake’s elegant, sybarite and distinctive personality and the H. Upmann brand that remains one of the most emblematic cigar brands across the world.

Herman’s Batch features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper that is said to be double-fermented and aged for four years. The blend is rounded out through the inclusion of a Dominican binder and fillers of the Dominican Republic and the Condega and Estelí regions of Nicaragua. The cigars have been rolled in four sizes at Altadis’ massive Tabacalera de Garcia factory in the Dominican Republic, being packaged in 20-count boxes that showcase the pencil-sketched likeness of Mr. Upmann and retailing between $9 and $10.50 MSRP. Consumers can expect Herman’s Batch to begin shipping to retailers in late November.
